Digitizing the Intuition - Its Importance In Context

Conceptual impressions surrounding this post have yet to be substantiated, corroborated, confirmed or woven into a larger argument or network.

When Should Someone Trust an AI Teammate’s Predictions?
By ADAM ZEWE, MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY   JANUARY 19, 2022

Hussein Mozannar wrote this paper with Arvind Satyanarayan, an assistant professor of computer science who leads the Visualization Group in CSAIL; and senior author David Sontag, an associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science at MIT and leader of the Clinical Machine Learning Group. This research will be presented at the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence in February.

For sake of clarification, I have highlighted certain phrases and comments I believe support the concept of Design and its relationship to Consciousness. My sincere gratitude to SciTechDaily and the authors.

“To help people better understand when to trust an AI “teammate,” MIT researchers created an onboarding technique that guides humans to develop a more accurate understanding of those situations in which a machine makes correct predictions and those in which it makes incorrect predictions.

By showing people how the AI complements their abilities, the training technique could help humans make better decisions or come to conclusions faster when working with AI agents.

“We propose a teaching phase where we gradually introduce the human to this AI model so they can, for themselves, see its weaknesses and strengths,” says Hussein Mozannar, a graduate student in the Clinical Machine Learning Group of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science. “We do this by mimicking the way the human will interact with the AI in practice, but we intervene to give them feedback to help them understand each interaction they are making with the AI.”

By showing people how the AI complements their abilities, the training technique could help humans make better decisions or come to conclusions faster when working with AI agents.

“Cognitive science suggests that humans make decisions for complex tasks by remembering past interactions and experiences. So, the researchers designed an onboarding process that provides representative examples of the human and AI working together, which serve as reference points the human can draw on in the future. They began by creating an algorithm that can identify examples that will best teach the human about the AI.

“We first learn a human expert’s biases and strengths, using observations of their past decisions unguided by AI,” Mozannar says. “We combine our knowledge about the human with what we know about the AI to see where it will be helpful for the human to rely on the AI. Then we obtain cases where we know the human should rely on the AI and similar cases where the human should not rely on the AI.”

The researchers tested their onboarding technique on a passage-based question answering task: The user receives a written passage and a question whose answer is contained in the passage. The user then has to answer the question and can click a button to “let the AI answer.” The user can’t see the AI answer in advance, however, requiring them to rely on their mental model of the AI. The onboarding process they developed begins by showing these examples to the user, who tries to make a prediction with the help of the AI system. The human may be right or wrong, and the AI may be right or wrong, but in either case, after solving the example, the user sees the correct answer and an explanation for why the AI chose its prediction. To help the user generalize from the example, two contrasting examples are shown that explain why the AI got it right or wrong.

“The participants who received teaching did just as well as the participants who didn’t receive teaching but could see the AI’s answer. So, the conclusion there is they are able to simulate the AI’s answer as well as if they had seen it,” Mozannar says.

“When teaching is successful, it has a significant impact. That is the takeaway here. When we are able to teach participants effectively, they are able to do better than if you actually gave them the answer,” he says.

Premise: An investigation to determine the ramifications surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a “teammate” in the decision-making process.
Commentary: Everything changes in the quantum field of virtual potential (QFVP), and in reference to human consciousness, symbolically categorized for the moment.
Question: Therefore, what might be considered intuitive and what is not?
Answer: The intuition is what brings balance to both the mind and the emotions. The intuition describes an innate principle common to human creativity, consciousness and awareness. Based in intelligence and flavored with understanding and compassion the intuition enables righteous decision making.

principle
noun 1 elementary principles: truth, proposition, concept, idea, theory, assumption, fundamental, essential, ground rule. 2 the principle of laissez-faire: doctrine, belief, creed, credo, (golden) rule, criterion, tenet, code, ethic, dictum, canon, law. 3 a woman of principle | sticking to one's principles: morals, morality, (code of) ethics, beliefs, ideals, standards; integrity, uprightness, righteousness, virtue, probity, (sense of) honor, decency, conscience, scruples.

righteous    adjective   1 the scriptures contain rules for righteous living: good, virtuous, upright, upstanding, decent, worthy; ethical, principled, moral, high-minded, law-abiding, just, honest, innocent, faultless, honorable, blameless, guiltless, irreproachable, sinless, uncorrupted, anti corruption, saintly, angelic, pure, noble, noble-minded, pious, God-fearing. ANTONYMS  wicked, sinful.     2 a look of righteous anger came over his face: justifiable, justified, legitimate, defensible, supportable, just, rightful; well founded, sound, valid, admissible, allowable, understandable, excusable, acceptable, reasonable, sensible. ANTONYMS  unjustifiable

All things change in time and space. All things are, in essence, symbolic in nature. Decision making is relative, referential, immediate and long term. Balance is an ideally persuasive concept meant for purposes of reaching a sense of progress, harmony and joy. Life describes the process of balancing. Design brings Life to "Reality".

“A decision is a commitment to a specific path (or plan). A choice is a possibility that we will consider based on its effectiveness, efficiency and whether we are willing to live with its consequences. The common denominator for our choices is consequences.

We make a decision when we look at all of our choices and choose the one that is the most practical and workable in that moment. We may think we decide based on the highest and best for ourselves and to some extent we do. But the common denominator for our decisions is also the consequences we are willing to live with. Acceptance is not tolerance.

Acceptance is acknowledging someone’s free will and their ability to choose what they want for themselves, no matter how ill advised or awkward we think it is.”

Design questions of choice. What is its purpose? What does it mean? Will it, can it, has it been designed appropriately in order to expand human knowledge, understanding, compassion, efficiency, awareness and consciousness? Does it encourage and harbor future potentials? Does it embrace and cooperate with the design of the planet? Are there any safeguards in place assuring that this tool will be used appropriately? Who is the user? Is the immeasurable worth measuring in the conscious search for balance and harmony?

Intelligence exemplifies change. Intelligence is constantly being redefined by means of symbolic transmission, i.e. language, art, mathematics, music etc. woven within every form of conscious awareness.

Generally speaking, intelligence describes a vibratory state with purposeful intentions. Understanding describes a vibratory state with meaningful intentions. Both become one in the same by means of coherent resonance/design.

Understanding _______________ Intelligence

Meaning ______________ Purpose
Coherent Resonance
(Design)

Intelligence like love, is a vibratory expression of perception/ observation and participation. Both impressions are made apparent by virtue of a symbolic spectrum of vibratory exchange and balance.

Whether digitized for collective reference or subjectively inspired for individual intent, the intuition cannot be denied. Context is everything.

The concept of intelligence is but a single feature of consciousness “as we know it”.

Intelligence and technology are intimately linked by design.

Science, art and philosophy caress a broad range of design perspectives (vibratory frequencies) by means of a vocabulary of symbolic languages designed to bring meaning and purpose to Life.

Science, art and philosophy each describe a POV within a symbolic framework created/designed in order to perceive, observe and interpret reality.

Design Hypothesis:
Consciousness is conceptual, illusional, symbolic and metaphoric in character. Consciousness is the quintessential archetype. Consciousness is the concomitant consequence associated with a range of multidimensional patterns of energy whose origin rests beyond the subconscious.

Awareness brings forward a “sense of consciousness” by fostering correspondences and fusing the concepts of meaning and purpose. Metaphysical in content and context, quantum, fractal and holographic in re-presentation, all forms of energy/Life are revealed and made apparent by means of Design. Design is lovingly veiled in all that can be seen, known, measured and/or felt (12.10.2022)

Design describes a metaphysical and multidimensional process. The design process is dependent upon knowledge, understanding, intention, intuition, imagination and awareness. Design creates a network of energy in motion (EIM) between fields/states/points/agents and patterns of awareness. Design creates a virtual, symbiotic and metaphoric lattice between consciousness, the subconscious and the unconscious, the tangible and the intangible, the known and the unknown, the seen and the unseen. All forms of energy in motion are based upon principles of meaning and purpose both felt and understood. (01.13.2023)

What is a designer? Designers are men and women who are faithful to themselves and others who creatively abide and amalgamate their skills and beliefs with love and integrity - the goal: personal, collective, global and soular balance and harmony. (09.01.2022)
