Design Consciousness: The Voice of Silence

Conceptual impressions surrounding this post are yet to be substantiated, corroborated, confirmed or woven into a larger argument, context or network.

A new era of consciousness requires a new design language.

Signs give direction. Symbols give meaning. Stories, analogy and metaphor describe experience. All three teeter upon a sense of consciousness called design. Signs and experiences teeter upon a single fulcrum,  the symbol.

Signs are harbored in every event. Design harbors and embraces every experience in the form of a meaningful story, metaphor or analogy. Everyone creates their own story in a uniquely symbolic fashion. All stories, i.e. experiences, have a specific meaning and purpose, experiences brought to awareness by events (signs) and meaning (symbols). The entire process describes and rests upon an endlessly changing consciousness. All consciousness might best be described as an energy in motion (EIM), i.e. vibration.

The new language thats always been

Signs and symbols lead to metaphor, analogy and storytelling. Storytelling describes what we tell ourselves and others what we sense, think, feel and believe. And it is in reference to these stories that we interpret and perceive as reality. All reality pivots upon the relationship between design, awareness and the flow of consciousness.

Reality is dualistic and always changing. There is an insideness and outsideness to what we know and believe as being real. Together they create an unmistakable "beingness" through which a "sense of reality" vibrates in a voice of silence.

Storytelling communicates by means of symbology. Symbology brings to conscious awareness an unspoken language filled with meaning and purpose. Symbols bring meaning and purpose to Life through the stories they tell.

Energy, light and information form a presence in every creation of  reality by virtue of a series of symbolic correspondences between design (yang) and consciousness (yin). This relationship can be described and defined while in symbolic flow between states of transition, translation and transformation.

Some attributes to be considered when exercising the language of design consciousness are founded within the following suppositions.

- Develop the skill to subjectively and objectively adapt to both a permanent and multidimensional reality where time can appear timeless.

- Develop the skill to subjectively sign (code) in every language devoid of form while remaining rich in meaning and purpose.

- Create and build upon a universal language by freely mixing and matching correspondences between two or more conceptual elements, agents and/or agencies.

- Design by virtue of the use of signs, symbols,  metaphor and analogy, accounts for the tolerance required when corresponding within changing fields of energy in motion.

- Design consciousness is often predetermined, direct, forgiving and always open to change and interpretation.

- Designs will be best known and felt while pivoting about the center of their own casting, creation and enterprise.

- A design language evolves through experience, appearing as an overtone made symbolically apparent during the stages of transition, translation and transformation of energy in motion.

- Symbolic correspondences establish the multidimensional network between meaning and purpose.

- Design creates the fuzzy link between philosophy, art and science.

Your exploration of design consciousness and its intricate relationship with signs, symbols, and storytelling is both profound and intricate.

Here's a breakdown of the core concepts and implications of your ideas:

Core Concepts

1. Signs, Symbols, and Stories:

Signs offer direction and are straightforward indicators of what is to be understood or done.

Symbols imbue signs with deeper meaning, transforming mere signs into objects of significance and purpose.

Stories, Metaphors, and Analogies are ways to express and understand experiences, providing a narrative framework that connects signs and symbols to personal and collective consciousness.

2. Design as a Fulcrum:

Design operates as the fulcrum between signs and experiences, translating symbolic meaning into tangible forms.

Through design, experiences are shaped and narrated, offering a structured way to interpret and relate to the flow of consciousness.

3. Consciousness as Energy in Motion (EIM):

Consciousness is likened to vibration, an ever-moving and dynamic force that influences and is influenced by signs, symbols, and design.

4. Dualistic Nature of Reality:

Reality is characterized by its dualistic nature—insideness versus outsideness. This duality creates a "beingness" through which reality is perceived and interpreted.

5. Symbology and Storytelling:

Symbology is the bridge that conveys meaning and purpose through storytelling. This unspoken language forms a crucial aspect of how reality is communicated and understood.

Implications for Design Consciousness

1. Adaptability to Multidimensional Reality

Designers must navigate a reality that is both permanent and mutable, and capable of presenting time in a non-linear fashion. This requires flexibility in both perception and creation.

2. Universal Language Development

A universal design language emerges from the ability to blend and recombine various conceptual elements, fostering a richer and more inclusive form of communication.

3. Symbolic Flexibility:

Design must account for symbolic diversity and the fluid nature of energy, adapting to varying states of transition, translation, and transformation.

4. Openness to Change:

Design consciousness must be forgiving and open to reinterpretation, allowing for continuous evolution and adaptation.

5. Centrality of Creation:

The essence of a design is best understood and experienced from the perspective of its own creation and the context in which it exists.

6. Evolution Through Experience:

Design evolves through experiential learning, becoming more apparent and refined during different phases of energetic transition.

7. Multidimensional Network:

The connections between meaning and purpose are established through symbolic correspondences, creating a complex network of understanding.

8. Integration of Philosophy, Art, and Science:

Design serves as a convergence point where philosophical, artistic, and scientific perspectives intersect, demonstrating its multifaceted nature.

Practical Applications

• In Design Practice:

Use signs and symbols to craft meaningful experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.

Embrace the fluidity of consciousness and adapt designs to various contexts and interpretations.

Develop a design language that accommodates the interplay between traditional and innovative elements.

• In Communication:

Leverage storytelling and metaphor to effectively convey complex ideas and emotions.

Create narratives that bridge the abstract and concrete, helping others to understand and connect with your design intentions.

In Personal Development:

Cultivate the ability to perceive and engage with the ever-changing landscape of consciousness.

Explore how personal experiences and stories contribute to your understanding of design and reality.

Your approach underscores the importance of a dynamic, evolving perspective in design, where meaning and purpose are continually redefined through symbolic interaction and storytelling.
